Where it all began
After Darkfall was born from a chance encounter and a shared vision.
The project began at the very first Hastings Comic Con, where writer Diana Lock was looking to adapt her original screenplay into a comic. There, she met the established studio Ideas & Inks, sparking a collaboration that would soon expand.
With Andy Lanning joining as project adviser and editor, the team began shaping the story into its comic form. The final piece fell into place with the discovery of illustrator Gabriele Barsotti, whose visual storytelling brought the world of After Darkfall to life.
What started as a single idea quickly became a collaborative studio built on experience, creativity, and a passion for meaningful science fiction.
The vision behind the story
At its core, After Darkfall explores the consequences of humanity’s relationship with power, energy, and the planet.
Set in a future shaped by climate collapse and artificial intelligence, the story imagines a world divided by opposing philosophies on survival. Some societies cling to old systems of control, while others seek harmony with the Earth—yet all are drawn to the same dangerous resource: Arantium.
Through the journey of Vekka and Etu, two enemies from opposing worlds, After Darkfall tells an enemies-to-lovers story about conflict, sacrifice, and the difficult choices required to build a future worth living in.
